Why did you become a builder?

I like building things & will learn new skills that will be handy to use in life.

Growing up did you always want to be a builder?

Ever since I was about 15 & got to do some work experience with a plasterer I wanted to learn more about building.

People you get to meet & heaps of variety in jobs.

Not really a tool but a nail belt.

Being able to eventually build my own home.

Why did you become a builder?

I looked up to my older cousin Darren Ryan as a brother figure who was a builder & thought that looks like something I really want to do.

Growing up did you always want to be a builder?

Ever since I was 12, as I spent school holidays alongside my cousin on his job sites.

What’s your favourite thing about being a builder?

Definitely the variety of work, the satisfaction of looking at what you have created, watching apprentices grow into quality tradesmen & meeting new clients with some becoming lifelong friends.

What’s your favourite tool?

Paslode 3inch nail gun.

What’s your biggest goal when it comes to building?

Is when I retire, I would like to look around & see quality tradesmen in the area that I put through their apprenticeship.

What is your biggest strength’s as a builder?

Positive attitude, getting along well with clients, employees, subs & suppliers & delivering a project that a client is proud of.

Makita, there’s no other brand.

Rolling up to the job, seeing the boys energetic, happy & taking pride in their work.

Yes, but I don’t cook often but I can cook a mean Man Pie.

Where I am right now.

Yes, barefoot bowls during the Christmas holidays lol & back yard footy, cricket & motorbike riding with the kids.

What’s your number 1 standout memory from your time with Steve Ryan Builder?

I have had many great memories when it comes to work memories, parties, race days, golf days etc, but my biggest stand out memory was getting my first call to build my first home for my first ever client as Steve Ryan Builder. I’ve been building for 26 years & been Steve Ryan Builder for the past 17 of them.

Why did you become the office manager?

I enjoy doing admin & communicating with all people in our line of work. Taking on this role it also lightens the workload for my husband Steve. This role in the business also keeps Steve & I on the same page knowing what’s going on within our business.

What’s your favourite thing about being married to a builder?

Not just the obvious lol, being able to get many jobs accomplished around the home, I love that he can create clients forever homes, something they are proud of & knowing that my husband did that.

What’s your favourite office tool?

My MacBook Air.

What’s your favourite office programs?

Xero for accounting, along with receipt bank. Love our BuilderTrend program that keeps all our employees, subs & clients in the loop. And OneDrive where Steve & I keep all documents, which are available for either of us to quickly access on any device.

What are your biggest strengths within the Building Business?

I think communication. I put myself in the client’s shoes.

What’s your favourite brand of tool?

My husband tells me Makita lol

What do you love about your workplace at Steve Ryan Builder?

I love our workplace vibe. That not just are our employees and subs work colleagues but also become good friends.

Chicken & chips or a BBQ meal

Lots, but I would say at the moment, Country as the Genre’, I love storytelling songs & also some dance beats to.

Modern farmhouse, lots of storage.

Mmmmmm don’t really have one.

My husband & kids tells me I can. Don’t really have a specialty dish but I do love the slow cooker especially during the kids sport season & winter.

Where I am now, living on our farm with our farmhouse fully renovated.

Yes, 2 younger sisters.

We have lots of good days at SRB, but I did really enjoy the Grafton Race Day with our employees & subs, lots of fun.

Why did you become a builder?

I became a builder to become a supervisor on multi-million-dollar commercial builds & one day run my own business, but cancer got in the way.

Growing up did you always want to be a builder?

No, I wanted to be a police officer but always loved working with wood & ended up taking an apprenticeship.

Would have to be looking at the end of the build & think I did that, it’s very satisfying.

Would have to be a Multi tool.

Growing up I never thought of becoming a builder, didn’t decide to take that path until early year 10.

Getting to create new homes & meet & work with people through the trade.

Trimmer/Router.

Finding technology & tools that makes our jobs easier & quicker.

Why did you become a builder?

I’ve always enjoyed seeing the finished product & with carpentry you see a home come together & it really gives me a sense of pride.

Growing up did you always want to be a builder?

As a high school student, I really loved woodwork as a subject so when Steve & Bec gave me the opportunity to continue my apprenticeship with them I jumped at it whole heartedly.

What’s your favourite thing about being a builder?

Seeing the satisfaction of the customer when we progress through the stages & the house really starts to take shape would have to be pretty high up there.

What’s your favourite tool?

The reciprocating saw, always fun in any situation, hahaha.

What’s your biggest goal when it comes to building?

My goals are to complete my apprenticeship & continue on with study & get my builders licence. Eventually I would like to build my own home with Steve & Bec. 

What is your biggest strength’s as a builder?

I think my biggest strength is my willingness to learn & not put any tasks in the too hard basket.

At SRB everyone gets along really well & it’s a wonderful workplace.
